PRE Kindergarten Free Opportuntiy

Good evening,

This message is for all families, staff, and community partners who may have a preschool-aged child or know a family with preschool-aged children. We are excited to share that these children may be eligible to participate in a free online early learning program to prepare for kindergarten.

LCSC and Mental Health America of Boone County have partnered with Waterford UPSTART to bring this program to our community. Waterford UPSTART is an in-home, technology-delivered kindergarten readiness program that gives preschool-aged children individualized reading, math and science instruction in 15-30 minutes a day, five days a week. Participants will receive a Chromebook laptop, which they keep upon successful completion, as well as WiFi to use for the duration of the program.

Eligible children must be born between August 2, 2013 and August 1, 2014 and entering kindergarten in fall 2019. Eligibility is based on income, and eligible students cannot be currently utilizing a pre-kindergarten voucher.

We invite interested families to join us on Thursday, December 6 from 6-7 p.m. at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary to learn more about this program, confirm eligibility, and complete the pre-registration process. Dinner will be provided by Mental Health America of Boone County. You may also pre-register by calling 1-888-982-9898 or visiting

Following pre-registration, all participating families will need to attend a parent training and student intake session on Wednesday, December 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hattie B. Stokes Elementary. All students represented by a parent will also receive a $20 gas card, and dinner will be provided for all attendees by Waterford UPSTART.
