The community is invited to join in the fifth annual Megan Hammerle Memorial 5K Run/Walk. It will be held on Saturday, April 20th, beginning and ending at the Lebanon High School football field. Net proceeds will benefit the Megan Suzanne Hammerle Memorial Scholarship fund.
“We are excited to announce our fifth annual 5K in Megan’s memory,” said Lian Ottinger. “This year the race will be officially timed, and all participants will receive a Megan 5K medal. The top male and female runners and walkers will also receive a special piece of artwork created by Megan.”
Megan was a lover of books, music, running, games, knitting and zentangles. She was a 2014 graduate of Lebanon High School and a freshman at DePauw University where she was a Science Research Fellow. She died on February 13, 2015 from a rare form of meningitis. Since 2015, $31,000 has been raised to benefit the scholarship named in Megan’s memory and the Lebanon High School band and athletic departments.
