Free Meals for Students

Recently, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the extension of federal programming to provide free meals for students until further notice.

As a result, LCSC is able to provide breakfast and lunch meals to all of our students at no cost for the duration of this program. Students’ meal accounts will not be charged for purchases of breakfast or lunch meals for the duration of the extension. Your student’s current balance will remain in his or her account, and may be used to purchase additional or exempt items and to pay for meals after the extension expires.

Federal guidelines define a meal to be made up of specific food components. Breakfast consists of an entrée, a fruit, and milk. Lunch consists of an entrée, a choice of fruit and/or vegetables, and milk. Please note that charges will still be incurred for a la carte items, snacks, and additions outside of the reimbursable meal.

We will communicate to our families when we will resume charging for student meals.

If your child qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, it is important to submit the application no later September 25, regardless of the current extended program. Please visit our Food Services page for more information.
