Fluor Corporation Donates $1,000 to Support Harney Elementary STEM Movie Night

As part of Public Schools Week, a time to celebrate the vital role public schools play in shaping our communities, Harney Elementary is excited to announce a generous $1,000 donation from Fluor Corporation to support a STEM movie night this spring. This contribution, made through the Lebanon Education Foundation (LEF), will provide a unique and engaging experience for students, highlighting the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.

Fluor Corporation’s support was inspired by the dedication of Harney Elementary’s STEM teacher, Matt Farrell, who has spent countless hours before and after school building and mentoring the school’s Robotics Teams. Recognizing the impact of his work, Fluor sought a way to invest in the school’s STEM initiatives. Following a recent visit to Harney, a collaborative discussion led to the idea of a STEM movie night, which Matt Farrell proposed as a way to further engage students and families in STEM learning beyond the classroom.

“We deeply appreciate our community partnership with Fluor Corporation and the invaluable resources they provide to pour into our students across the district,” said Harney Elementary Principal Dr. Janet Dye. “Opportunities like this STEM movie night not only support our students academically but also inspire them to explore the possibilities of STEM in a fun and engaging way.”

More details about the STEM movie night will be released soon. Harney Elementary extends its gratitude to Fluor Corporation, Lebanon Education Foundation, the City of Lebanon, and Lilly for their continued support in enriching educational opportunities for students.

As we celebrate Public Schools Week, this partnership is a testament to the power of community involvement in strengthening public education. It underscores the importance of investing in programs that ignite curiosity, foster innovation, and prepare students for the future.
