Perry-Worth Elementary Named State Champions at Indiana Math Bowl Competition
On Tuesday, April 11, Perry-Worth Elementary's Math Bowl team competed at Granville Wells Elementary for the area Math Bowl Competition.
Perry-Worth won first place at the area competition, competing against 9 other teams. The teams ranged from 4th grade to 6th grade.
Logan Mikesell, Academic Coach shared, "This is a huge accomplishment for our students and our school. We have had a math bowl team for the past 3 years, but this year we started practicing earlier and participated in an invitational. Students came every Monday morning ready to learn, and even completed optional homework to practice skills at home. They worked so hard for this."
Perry-Worth was 1 out of 137 teams competing for the 2023 Indiana State Championship and walked away as State Champions!
"To not only take home first place at the Area Competition, but to be State Champions– WOW, what a special thing! It's a feeling of achievement for all of Perry-Worth," said Amber Moore, Principal at Perry-Worth Elementary.
We are so proud of our Perry-Worth Tiger Cubs and know this was a team effort by everyone involved!
"Thank you to parents for making it a priority to drop their students off early to school for math bowl practice, students taking time to study math problems and skills at home, and Miss Mikesell for challenging their thinking and problem solving skills. There's not anything better than accomplishing something at this level and experiencing all of it as a team! My heart is so full and I am so proud of Miss Mikesell and these twelve students," exclaimed Moore.
