Q1: Tell us a bit about yourself. What inspired you to join the school board?
I have grown up and spent my entire life in our wonderful community. I am married to my best friend (Lebanon Alum) and we now have our first child. I was inspired to join the school board to give a voice to not only our members of the community, but the students as well. I substitute taught before entering my career and loved being in the classroom and making sure our kids know they have many choices to have a successful future.
My biggest thing I wanted to impact was our career opportunities and the Tiger Career program. EVERY student we get the chance to assist should have many opportunities to do something they enjoy. College is a wonderful option, but there are MANY other GREAT options our students can pursue. We will always need skilled trades individuals, public safety workers, and many other career field choices that may require a different avenue other than a four-year college education.
I wanted to be a part of something that has an opportunity to become great. I am beyond grateful for the many educators that have been a part of LCSC, and some that are still teaching in our school system.
Q2: Please share your role and responsibilities as a school board member?
My role as a school board member is to listen and make educated decisions to better our corporation and community. I enjoy face-to-face conversations and getting ideas from everyone of all ages to better myself. Being a good teammate is an important factor in being a great board member!
Q3: What LCSC achievements or contributions are you most proud of during your time on the school board?
I am most proud of our school corporation for growing in the right direction. I greatly enjoy attending all of our athletic events and being a Tiger for more than thirty years!
Q4: If you could give one piece of advice to our students, what would it be?
You are the future! It doesn’t matter how old you are, your voice is important. Work hard and anything you want to achieve is possible. Never be the smartest one in the room and always surround yourself with the best team you can.
Q5: What was your favorite school subject growing up?
English! Shout out to the teachers that provided me with awesome instruction and keep our students engaged. Some of them are still at LCSC & of course, the OG Bobby Gould.
Q6: What is your favorite school event, and why?
Tough choice! Homecoming is awesome with everyone being involved and the entire week being dedicated to our school. But, as a basketball guy, is there anything better than the LHS pep band on a Friday/Saturday night playing eye of the tiger or AC/DC, and the entire gym rockin’!!!
Q7: What was your all-time favorite school lunch?
A grilled chicken wrap with cheese.
Q8: What are some of your hobbies or activities outside of being on the school board?
Coaching, spending time with my friends and family, and of course traveling with my wife!
Q9: What is your favorite thing about being a part of LCSC? (Traditions, Culture, Community, etc.) OR what makes LCSC unique/special?
The people! We’re fortunate that our kids and parents care about LCSC. Traditions are wonderful, but people create traditions. I can’t pinpoint only one thing that makes LCSC unique, we have too many.
Painting your parking spot, senior camp out, the talent shows at the elementary schools, everything is fun to be a part of.
