Central Elementary Student Lighthouse Team Spreads Holiday Cheer by Supporting Local Family
The Central Elementary Student Lighthouse team has exemplified the true spirit of giving this holiday season. Through their recent winter dance fundraiser, they raised an impressive sum of over $1500, dedicated to supporting a local family in need.
The family, who lost their father and husband in October, received the heartwarming gesture from Central Elementary's fifth-grade students. "Our fifth-grade students are excited to have the opportunity to share a piece of Central joy with this family," expressed Mrs. Lahrman, a fifth-grade teacher.
With the guidance of devoted teachers and the Student Lighthouse team, a visit to Lebanon Maurices and Wal-Mart was arranged to carefully select and purchase gifts for the family. The Central Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) played an integral role in coordinating a special wrapping day for the students. Mrs. Lahrman provided invaluable support, overseeing the project from inception to completion.
The culmination of this heartfelt effort was marked by the students personally delivering the gifts to the family on Tuesday, December 19. "This initiative not only impacts the family directly but leaves an indelible mark on our students. It's an experience that forever changes them," shared Mrs. Lahrman.
Lebanon Community School Corporation and Central Elementary are immensely proud of the dedication shown by their students in spreading holiday cheer and contributing to the community. Principal McKenzie Leckrone expressed, “Encouraging students to lead and serve ignites a positive impact beyond measure. These fifth-grade students, guided by compassion, have not just influenced our community; they’ve found the true spirit of the holidays through the gift of giving.”
