Child Find

Lebanon Community School Corporation (LCSC), in accordance with Article 7 of Indiana’s special education rules (511 IAC 7), is obligated to identify, locate, and evaluate all students within its jurisdiction who may have disabilities and require special education services, as part of its Child Find responsibilities. This includes ensuring that every child suspected of having a disability is provided a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment. LCSC integrates its Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to support early identification and intervention by monitoring student progress and providing increasing levels of academic and behavioral support. When a student does not respond adequately to targeted interventions within the MTSS process, LCSC initiates a formal referral and evaluation process to determine eligibility for special education services. This proactive and systematic approach helps ensure that no student with a potential disability is overlooked, and that all students receive the appropriate services and supports needed to succeed in school.
