My child's application was approved last year. Do I need to fill out a new one?
Yes. A new application must be completed each school year.
Can homeless, runaway, or migrant children receive educational benefits?
Yes, children who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant are eligible for free curricular materials. If you believe children in your household meet these descriptions, please contact the LCSC McKinney-Vento liaison.
Who do I include as members of my household?
You must include all people living in your household, related or not, who share income and expenses. You must include yourself and all of your children who live with you. Do not include people who live with you who are economically independent.
What if my income is not always the same?
List the amount you normally receive. For example, if you normally receive $1,000 each month, but missed some work last month and only received $900, record $1,000 per month. If you are a seasonal 9, 10, or 11 month employee, list the amount you normally receive. If you have lost your job or had your hours or wages reduced, use your current income.
If my children do not qualify now, may I reapply later?
Yes, you may reapply at any time during the school year. For example, children with a parent or guardian who becomes unemployed may become eligible if the household income drops below the income limit.
May I apply if someone in my household is not a U.S. citizen?
Yes. You, your children, or other household members do not have to be U.S. citizens to apply.
Will the information I give be checked?
Yes, you may be asked to provide written proof of income to verify eligibility.
Will the information I give be shared?
Applications are confidential, and information will not be shared with others.
