Tiger Cubs Pre-K

When we surveyed our community in preparation for the 2021 Operating and Capital Referenda, one need stood out: quality Pre-K in our community.

We’re excited to announce that Tiger Cubs Pre-K will open in fall 2026! This full-day program will serve four-year-olds, focusing on academic and social development to ensure a strong start for kindergarten. 

Here are some information items regarding Tiger Cubs Pre-K:

  • We broke ground on the new Tiger Cubs Pre-K on Tuesday, August 5!
     
  • Tiger Cubs Pre-K will be in two locations: the site of the "old" Central Elementary School, and two classrooms at Perry-Worth Elementary School.
     
  • We are planning to apply for certification from Indiana’s On My Way Pre-K, which will allow us to assist families needing financial assistance to attend Pre-K.
     
  • We will provide priority enrollment for full-time LCSC employees
     
  • The program will be tuition-based and focused on affordability for families.
     
  • District transportation will not be provided for Tiger Cubs Pre-K
     
  • This is a full day program and we are currently discussing the possibility of a before and after school care program.
     
  • Tiger Cubs Pre-K students will be taught by a combination of certified licensed teachers and paraprofessionals.
     
  • Mr. Rick Hunt has been hired as the Tiger Cubs Pre-K Principal and will oversee the administration of the program.
     
  • We will employ a full-time nurse onsite.
     
  • The program and curriculum will be overseen by LCSC.
     
  • Currently, we do not plan to limit enrollment to families residing in the LCSC attendance boundaries. This will be evaluated when we begin to better understand and assess the community demand for the program.
