High Ability Programming at LCSC

At Lebanon Community School Corporation, we believe every student deserves to be challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Our High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of students who demonstrate exceptional aptitude or performance in one or more subject areas.
Elementary School: Building Strong Foundations
In our elementary schools, cluster classrooms are offered at each grade level. These classrooms are led by teachers who are specially trained to differentiate instruction and create enriching, engaging learning experiences tailored to high ability students.
For students who demonstrate a need for additional academic challenge, we also offer vertical articulation, allowing them to access curriculum from a higher grade level in specific subject areas. Each cluster teacher has access to recommended high ability curriculum resources that support both depth and acceleration.
Middle School: Deepening Learning
At the middle school level, high ability students are thoughtfully placed into academic classes that match their readiness and learning needs. Courses in English, math, science, and social studies are offered at an advanced pace and depth, giving students opportunities to think critically, engage in higher-level discussions, and explore topics more deeply than in traditional classes.
High School: Preparing for What’s Next
Lebanon High School offers a wide range of opportunities to challenge high ability learners and prepare them for post-secondary success. Students can choose from:
-
Honors Courses
-
Advanced Placement (AP) Classes
-
Dual Enrollment Opportunities
-
Academic and Technical Honors Diplomas
These advanced academic pathways provide rigorous learning experiences, encourage independent thinking, and prepare students for college, careers, and lifelong success.
