• About School Board Meetings

A meeting is defined as a gathering of a majority of Board members for the purpose of taking official action. The Board will give notice of regular, special, and emergency Board meetings to Board members, news media, and the general public at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays.

Agendas shall be prepared in advance, and minutes shall be taken and approved at the next meeting and available for public inspection not later than five business days after the meeting at which the minutes are approved.

    Types of Meetings

    Regular Meetings

The Board holds regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month in the HB Wells Community Center. Regular meetings are open to the public.

    Executive Sessions

The Board may meet in an executive session in accordance with Board policy and federal and state statutes. Executive sessions are closed to the public.

    Special Meetings and Emergency Meetings

Special meetings and emergency meetings may be called in compliance with Board policy and federal and state statutes. Special and emergency meetings are open to the public.

    Public Participation

The Board recognizes the value of public comment and importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on Corporation matters.

Per Board policy, any person or group wishing to place an item on the agenda shall register their intent with the Superintendent no later than seven (7) days prior to the meeting. Such requests shall be approved by Superintendent and Board President.

To permit fair and orderly public expression, the Board may provide a period for public participation at ever regular meeting of the Board and publish procedures to govern such participation in Board meetings.
