The Capstone Course Experiences are a great way for students to engage in a career area of their interest. Through these courses, students are exposed to real world experiences while applying skills taught in our classrooms.
Important details to note about the programs:
- Grades 11 and 12
- Double-block experience
- Full-year program
- Students must provide their own transportation.
- Meet all requirements for a specific program and be on track to graduate
- Submit application by Friday, March 3rd, 2023

Building Trades
Recommended Grade Levels: 11, 12
LHS Prerequisites: Instruction to Construction
Student Course Application: No
Students enrolled in building trades will work in a double-block course, off-site to see all areas of construction.

Cadet Teaching
Recommended Grade Levels: 12
Recommended Prerequisites: None
Student Course Application: Yes
Do you have an interest in becoming a teacher or working with children? Students in the cadet teaching course participate in a double-block, off-campus experience where they work with a supervising teacher in an elementary or middle school classroom to gain experience!
Students have the option to purse the dual credit option available with Bulter University based on enrollment in this course.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Recommended Grade Levels: 11, 12
LHS Required Prerequisites: Biology 1 and Health
Student Course Application: No
Have an interest in exploring a career in the health industry? Enroll in the CNA program where you will work to earn your CNA certification in one semester while also gaining dual credits with Ivy Tech. During 2nd semester, those that earn their certification will continue to gain experience in a local healthcare setting.

Health Science II: Nursing
Recommended Grade Levels: 12
LHS Required Prerequisites: Health Science Education I and Medical Terminology with an overall B average
Student Course Application: Yes
Continue to build on the medical knowledge and skills you have learned in Health Science I and Medical Terminology by enrolling in the Health Science II: Nursing course. Students will work with the course instructor to select a internship placement site where they will gain more knowledge about the healthcare industry and prepare for their post-secondary path.

Precision Machining
Recommended Grade Levels: 11, 12
Student Course Application: Yes
The Precision Machining program is made possible based on the partnership with Vincennes University and the Gene Haas Training and Education Center located in Lebanon. By enrolling in this one-year program, students will gain a basic understanding of precision machining processes used in industry, manufacturing, maintenance and repair.
The course is held off-site, 5 days a week from 12:30 until 3:00 pm. Students can earn up to 15 dual credits and several industry recognized certifications.

Work-Based Learning
Recommended Grade Levels: 12
Recommended Prerequisites: Complete at least one advanced CTE course in pathway, placement must align to pathway
Student Course Application: Yes
By enrolling in the Work-Based Learning class, seniors are able to be exposed to real world experiences in an area of their interest. After students are accepted into the program they will work closely with course instructors to secure a placement site.
