A note from the parent to the teacher is required if the student is going home a different way than the usual one.
Students who ride to and from school in cars MUST be picked up and dropped off next to the yellow curb drive on the west side of the building only. Please pull up as far north as possible. There is no need to stop at the door. Students can be dropped off and picked up anywhere along the yellow curb. The North side of the building is for buses and day care ONLY. Richardson Street and alleys around the building should not be used for car pick up as many children walk these routes and unneeded traffic will put children in danger. If drivers must park their cars and enter the building, cars MUST be parked in the school parking lot, rather than the traffic lane in front of the school. PLEASE DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE YOUR CAR PARKED IN THE TRAFFIC LANE IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL, EVEN FOR “A MINUTE”. If a car is blocking the traffic lane because it is parked, cars behind it will make a second lane in order to exit, and this creates a severe hazard to anyone trying to cross the lane. Students riding bicycles to school are to dismount and walk their bicycles upon reaching the school boundaries. For those students coming to school along Park Street, they must dismount and walk their bicycles upon reaching the corner of Williams Street. Bicycles should be parked in the bicycle rack on the east side of the building.
The bus/BASE/walkers students are released on the 1st bell.
Day care van and car riders will go on the 2nd bell.

Behavior Expectations
Each Central student and staff member is encouraged to follow the Lifelong Guidelines (posted throughout the school):
Active Listening

The Life Skills are also posted throughout the building. The Central Staff strives to model and reinforce these behavioral expectations consistently. We believe that these skills serve as the bridge for bringing home and school together into a close partnership on behalf of children. The Life Skills are:
Confidence
Motivation
Effort
Responsibility
Initiative
Perseverance
Caring
Teamwork
Common sense
Problem-solving
Pride Pledge
Put downs are prohibited.
Respect and trust toward one another.
Insist upon your personal best.

Expect and give truth and honesty
Cafeteria Procedures
The cafeteria should be an inviting place for everyone to enjoy wonderful food, social time with friends, and other fun activities. The following rules have been developed for children in order to help us reach this goal:
Enter the Williams Street Cafe in a calm, quiet manner.
Be courteous and respectful to all adults and children.
Remain in your seat during lunch unless directed otherwise.
Raise your hand if you have a question or need assistance.
Do not exchange food with one another.
Talk to one another with quiet voices at the appropriate time.
Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
Use good manners.
Follow directions-Use active listening when asked.
Do not bring “pop” or carbonated beverages of any kind to drink with lunch.
We do want all of the children to enjoy social time with friends. The children are permitted to visit politely with their friends for the majority of the lunch period. At the end of lunch, when it is important to listen to instructions, the lunchroom monitors will count to 3. At this time, children are to use active listening (NO TALKING). When children do not choose to follow these rules, Miss Roth will contact parents through a written form or telephone call. If problems persist, the child will not be permitted to eat with the other children for a period of time, and/or a conference will be held with parents. As a reward for good manners and following the rules, a group of 4-6 children from each grade level may be selected each Friday to sit at the “special” table on the stage.
